This summer Orascom Development delivered the first Fairway Villas to their owners at Ancient Sands, a new global destination overlooking the Red Sea in El Gouna, Egypt. SB Architects has created a visionary resort that rises out of the desert in a vision of white.
The architecture is a contemporary interpretation of traditional Egyptian forms. Complex forms contrast with a pure white color scheme, resulting a dramatic, sophisticated resort architecture. At the heart of the development, a grand golf clubhouse encircles a large courtyard – soon to be flanked by a boutique hotel and spa. Sited on a bluff at the center of the site, the Hilltop Village and Fairway Villas form the heart of the Ancient Sands development. The dense arrangement of structures and elevations creates a single organically-formed environment with a rich mixture of outdoor spaces, intricate stairways and terraced gardens. Endlessly interesting yet sophisticated and strikingly simple, in tune with historical precedent yet decidedly contemporary, the design is meant to resonate with sophisticated buyers on a global scale.
Located along 10 kilometers of magnificent coastline just north of the seaside resort city of Hurghada, El Ghouna – comprised of several islands separated by channels and connected by numerous bridges – is often referred to as “The Venice of the Red Sea.” Orascom is one of the world’s leading developers of resort and residential destinations.
As the first owners take possession of their villas, construction continues on the remainder of the development, with the golf clubhouse and course nearing completion.
