Located just a block from San Francisco’s downtown ballpark, this urban infill project adds seven stories of housing to a 28,000-square-foot, historic warehouse that survived the city’s 1906 earthquake.  The existing brick structure will be preserved as an important part of the area’s industrial history and character, providing retail along the street front.  Using materials common to the neighborhood, the new structure is designed to create a modern interpretation of the existing architectural vocabulary.  The new residential floors are set back from the edge of the existing building, providing podium-level open space, maximizing bay views and preserving the two-story identity of the historic structure at street level.

“This property is a great opportunity to take a historic site, preserve some of it and bring new homes to a city with a lot of demand.”

Chris Apostolopoulos President, KB Homes Northern California
