A majestic resort rising out of the desert, Ancient Sands spans 519 acres. The mission for this golf-oriented project is to create a resort community fundamentally in tune with the architectural traditions of the desert and traditional Egyptian architecture while making a statement of contemporary simplicity. Richly varied massing complements the pure white color scheme. At the heart of the development, an expansive clubhouse with an 80-room hotel and spa connects the resort’s central hilltop village with the golf course’s 18th hole. Organized around a central piazza at the crest of the hill, the village is a dense interplay of buildings and stepped elevations that creates a single organic environment with a mix of outdoor spaces, stairways, and terraced gardens.
