The development at 50 Lansing Street was a key element of a city effort to redevelop and redefine San Francisco’s historic Rincon Hill neighborhood, near the base of the San Francisco Bay Bridge in the rapidly-developing South of Market area. Sited on a unique, center-of-the-block site in this previously industrial area of the city, this development is part of a special use district and provides the closest residential enclave to the financial district. The structure was shaped from the outside in, formed by the tight, odd-shaped site, which is in turn defined by a small, mid-block loop road and ringed by buildings in a variety of scales.  Designed in a modern architectural style, the building uses varying set-backs from the property line and mid-street points to create depth and add richness to the facade, with inset windows, pilasters, trellises and terraces at various levels affording spectacular city views.
