For the fourth year in a row, SB Architects fielded a strong team to compete in the South Beach Triathlon. We fielded 11 teams of three – one swimmer, one runner and one biker, for a total of 33 entrants! This year, for the first time, we held a drawing and sent three members of our San Francisco staff to compete with the members of our Miami team. The lucky three flew down on Friday to compete in Saturday’s event – a 1/2-mile swim, a 20.7-mile bike ride and a 4-mile run. Through its name sponsor Life Time Fitness, the Southbeach Triathlon raises awareness and funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The South Beach Triathlon began with an ocean swim in the beautiful, warm water (water temperature was estimated at 78 degrees) that ran parallel to world-famous South Beach. The bike course crossed over Miami Beach’s famous Causeway with scenic views of the Intracoastal Waterway, downtown Miami and Miami Beach. The run course was fast out and back alongside Miami Beach’s Art Deco District, finishing on the sands of South Beach.
Work hard, play hard, be well. SB Fit!
